Why is LED lighting better than conventional lighting? It produces more light and less heat per watt of electricity used. A traditional incandescent bulb has a filament burning inside. The light created is really just a byproduct of the burning heat. In an LED, light is emitted as a result of fast moving electrons that produce photons, the building blocks of light. In terms of efficiency, incandescent bulbs energy is 80% heat and 20% light.
